Education

Dr. Justyna Jurczewska holds a PhD in Medical and Health Sciences. She graduated from the Faculty of Dietetics at the Medical University of Warsaw and completed postgraduate studies in Psychodietetics at SWPS University in Warsaw.

Employment

As a PhD student at the Department of Clinical Dietetics, Medical University of Warsaw, in 2019–2023 she conducted the research project entitled “Diet, Physical Activity, and Body Composition in Relation to Selected Biochemical Markers of Metabolism in Patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.”

She is also involved in individual patient counselling in a dietetic clinic and provides nutrition education for children and adolescents in primary and secondary schools. Since 2025, she has been a member of the Human Milk and Lactation Research Lab team at the Medical University of Warsaw.

Research Interests

Research interests focus on the impact of women’s dietary patterns and nutritional status on human milk composition, the course of lactation, and the health of breastfeeding mothers. Particular attention is paid to the relationships between maternal diet and the content of nutritional, bioactive, and immunological components in human milk, as well as their significance for infant growth and health.

Another area of interest involves comprehensive care for women during preconception, pregnancy, and the postpartum period, with particular emphasis on hormonal disorders affecting fertility and pregnancy outcomes. This includes thyroid dysfunction, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), insulin resistance, gestational diabetes mellitus, and other endocrine disorders that may influence maternal and child health, as well as human milk composition.
