Funding Awarded to Two Projects from the Human Milk and Lactation Research Laboratoryniem Warszawskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego

We are pleased to announce that two members of the Human Milk and Lactation Research Laboratory have been awarded funding for their research projects through internal grant competitions of the Medical University of Warsaw.

Ms. Julia Krzemińska received funding through the Student Mini-Grant 2026 program for her project entitled “Opinions on the Participation of Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women in Clinical Trials: Perspectives of Sponsors, Researchers, and Patients.” The project aims to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions surrounding the participation of pregnant and breastfeeding women in clinical research. The study will help identify barriers and challenges related to the inclusion of these populations in clinical trials and suggest potential strategies for developing safer and more ethically sound research practices.

A second grant was awarded to Mr. Paulo Vitor Gonçalves through the Young Researcher competition for his project entitled “Participation of Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women in European Randomized Clinical Trials: An Analysis Based on CTIS Registry Data.” The project seeks to assess the extent to which pregnant and breastfeeding women are included in randomized clinical trials conducted across Europe. By analyzing data from the European Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS), the study will provide insight into the current representation of these populations in clinical research and identify areas where further development is needed.

Both projects contribute to the growing field of research on women’s health, lactation, and the ethics of clinical research. Their findings have the potential to improve the scientific evidence base that informs healthcare for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
